I’m back, this time from a week long class at Eugene Textile Center in Eugene, Oregon. Other than a hiccup with the first flight out last Tuesday morning, where we returned to the gate because of leaking fuel from the engine, causing me to miss my connection, all five flights there and back were relatively uneventful. The weather was cooperative, the town lovely and I am in love with ETC! I’ve seen their booth many many times at conferences, and Suzy the owner and I have had many discussions over meals in dining halls, but I’ve never been to the actual store front. Wow! It is unusual to have a fibers only retail store, that doesn’t focus on knitting. There are looms all over the place, Suzy takes in strays and she has some gorgeous looms for sale. Sadly none of them could follow me home on the plane, if I even had room for another loom…
The classroom facilities were wonderful, great light, gorgeous cutting tables, and I adored my class. They worked and played well together, coming in from all over the Pacific northwest, one participant flew in from Alaska.
The students cut their fabric, all had handwoven…
They sewed like the wind…
We pressed as we sewed…
We took frequent breaks…
This one is for you Amy…
We admired each other’s progress…
Devorah, one of the ETC employees interviewed me for their blog…
And in the end, we had some pretty fantastic jackets, and one beautiful merino cape.
Next up at the end of the month… Peters Valley!
Stay tuned…
Oh FUN! I have also seen their booth at NWRSA and it is good. Looms huh? I’m not that far from Eugene…….like I need another one 🙂 Those women look great. You too 🙂
Mmmmm….Old Engine Oil, one of my favorites. Ahem…right…and very nice sewing. Looks like a great class with cool fabrics. 😉
