Splash Draft

This dramatic garment titled Amigas Virtuosas, was a collaborative effort with Loretta Dian Phipps, for the first annual Design Challenge fot the Handweavers Guild of America Convergence conference 2008 in Tampa Bay, FL.  Yarns were custom designed by Prism Yarns and sent to each of the design teams.  This 8 shaft draft used the variety of yarns in different weights and though the yarns were variegated, they had a precision two yard repeat in the color.  Warps were wound using a sectional warp method, so the colors lined up ombré style.  The draft is a combination weave, twill, plain weave and supplemental warps, on 8 shafts.  Fabric design and draft, by Daryl Lancaster, all other embellishments, beading, felting and quilting by Loretta Dian Phipps. Digital 2 page PDF download.
