Sound like you know how to take care of yourself, Daryl. I too have cleaned out my son's room, apartment, and car. Nothing more need be said! I haven't read Echo yet but I think I've read all the others. I was waiting for it to come out in paperback but maybe I better call the library and reserve it. Now about those dyed warps. I just don't think I have the guts to try that until I have a little more experience with weaving. They look so beautiful - they really entice me to try. What I have been doing is practicing my knitting so I can use the beautiful yarns I've spun, I have advanced from dishrags and scarves to hats and mittens. Next on my list is socks and then back to weaving and sewing. Retirement is a wonderful thing - it gives me the time to do so much more creative handwork than when I was working full-time plus. Rest up and don't overdo now so you get fully recovered!

Daryl, I have the same thing, caught from my husband. It took him an entire week to feel human again, and I have had laryngitis for over two days now. I just wanted to let you know so you don't worry. It takes time but you will feel yourself soon. Fever, chills, yes......horrible.
Rest up and take good care. -Catherine

Thanks Ann. I wrote a detailed "how to paint warps with MX dyes" for a Jumpstart article for Handwoven Magazine, May June of 2006. The how to's on the Pro-Chem website are pretty thorough. I don't use a thickener. I just paint.
There are actually three different warps, each with a different yarn. The shiny one you describe is a 6 ply rayon from WEBS from their mill ends. I love the yarn. The other two are a cotton lace, textured yarn with a poly core (so the core didn't take the dye, and it looks sort of heathery) and a rayon with a silk slub, the old Silk City Contessa, I still had a few natural cones left on the shelf. I run the three warps together, each sett in its own structure, so I get a dimensional fabric. The shiny 6 ply rayon will be set in a 2/1 twill.
